HRI Pioneers 2019 was held in Daegu, Korea jointly with the 2019 ACM/IEEE International Conference on Human-Robot Interaction. The workshop involved 19 students and postdocs, 10 student organizers, a panel of 3 faculty and industry researchers, and 3 keynotes from Dr. Adriana Tapus, Dr. Takayuki Kanda and Astrid Jackson. The workshop proceedings were published as part of the HRI 2019 Extended Abstracts (IEEE Xplore DL).

HRI Pioneers 2018 was held in Chicago, Illinois jointly with the 2018 ACM/IEEE International Conference on Human-Robot Interaction. The workshop involved 21 students and postdocs, 8 student organizers, a panel of 3 faculty and industry researchers, and 3 keynotes from Dr. Heather Knight, Dr. Jeonghye Han and Dr. Jung Kim. The workshop proceedings were published as part of the HRI 2018 Extended Abstracts (ACM DL).

HRI Pioneers 2017 was held in Vienna, Austria jointly with the 2017 ACM/IEEE International Conference on Human-Robot Interaction. The workshop involved 29 students and postdocs, 10 student organizers, a panel of 4 faculty and postdocs, and 3 keynotes from Dr. Maya Cakmak, Dr. Giorgio Metta and Dr. Fumihide Tanaka. The workshop proceedings were published as part of the HRI 2017 Extended Abstracts (ACM DL).

HRI Pioneers 2016 was held in Christchurch, New Zealand jointly with the 2016 ACM/IEEE International Conference on Human-Robot Interaction. The workshop involved 27 students and postdocs, 10 student organizers, a panel of 3 senior faculty, and 3 keynotes from Dr. Cindy Bethel, Dr. Ross Mead and Dr. Hae Won Park. The workshop proceedings were published as part of the HRI 2016 Extended Abstracts (ACM DL).

HRI Pioneers 2015 was held in Portland, Oregon jointly with the 2015 ACM/IEEE International Conference on Human-Robot Interaction. The workshop involved 30 students and postdocs, 11 student organizers, a panel of 4 senior faculty, and 2 keynotes from Dr. Bilge Mutlu, and Dr. Astrid Weiss. The workshop proceedings were published as part of the HRI 2015 Extended Abstracts (ACM DL).

HRI Pioneers 2014 was held in Bielefeld, Germany jointly with the 2014 ACM/IEEE International Conference on Human-Robot Interaction. The workshop involved 23 students and postdocs, 11 student organizers, a panel of 5 senior faculty, and a keynote from Dr. Tony Belpaeme. The workshop proceedings were published as a technical report (Duncan and Lorenz, 2014; PDF).

HRI Pioneers 2013 was held in Tokyo, Japan in conjunction with the 2013 ACM/IEEE International Conference on HRI. The workshop involved 23 students and postdocs, 12 student organizers, a panel of 5 senior researchers, and a keynote from Dr. Andrea Thomaz. The proceedings of the workshop were published as a technical report (Shen and Rosenthal-von der Pütten, 2013; PDF).

HRI Pioneers 2012 was held in Boston, Massachusetts in conjunction with the 2012 ACM/IEEE International Conference on HRI. The workshop involved 24 students and postdocs, 8 student organizers, a panel of 5 senior researchers, and a keynote from Dr. Robin Murphy. The proceedings of the workshop have been published as a technical report (Peschel and Lu, 2012; PDF).

HRI Pioneers 2011 was held in Lausanne, Switzerland with the 2011 ACM/IEEE International Conference on HRI. It involved 28 students and postdocs, 11 student organizers, and a panel of 4 senior faculty members. The accepted abstracts of the workshop were published in the proceedings of the 2011 ACM/IEEE International Conference on HRI (Kollar and Weiss, 2011; PDF).

HRI Pioneers 2010 was held in Osaka, Japan with the 2010 ACM/IEEE International Conference on HRI, and involved 20 students and postdocs, 8 student organizers, and a panel of 4 senior faculty members. The proceedings were published as a technical report (Tsui, 2010; PDF)

HRI Pioneers 2009 was held in San Diego, California with the 2009 ACM/IEEE International Conference on HRI and involved 27 students and postdocs, 5 student organizers, and a keynote from Dr. Matthias Scheutz.

HRI Pioneers 2008 was held in Amsterdam with the 2008 ACM/IEEE International Conference on HRI. The workshop involved 21 students and postdocs, 8 student organizers, and featured a keynote from, Dr. Brian Scassellati.

HRI Pioneers 2007 was held in Washington, D.C. with the 2007 ACM/IEEE International Conference on HRI and involved 20 students and postdocs, 4 student organizers, and a keynote from Dr. Henrik Christensen.

HRI Pioneers 2006 (formerly known as NSF Young Researchers in HRI) was held in Salt Lake City, Utah with the 2006 ACM/IEEE International Conference on HRI. The workshop involved 15 students and postdocs, 3 student organizers, and a keynote from Dr. Clifford Nass.
